This is an introductory lesson to Shakespeare's Macbeth and includes background information on Shakespeare, the stage, and the play itself. It is designed to hook your students from the beginning and keep them interested throughout by using humor and suspense.
This bundle includes a PowerPoint and guided notes for your students to fill in while you teach the lesson. The lesson begins with with colorful slides about witches, ghosts, betrayal, power, and corruption, and challenges students to think of stories they know with those themes. That's when you reveal that you are going to read Macbeth! The lesson also includes background information about Shakespeare and the play, as well as why each are important to us today. I have also included brief descriptions of the main characters so that students know what to expect. This is a great way to introduce students to the thrill ride that is reading Macbeth in the classroom!
