Do you love a fun game to get your kiddos excited about improving their reading or articulation skills? You're in luck! Use this game to target students working on carryover of articulation skills, decoding words, listening for meaning, or JUST FOR FUN!!!
Each of the 60 cards contains a puzzle (sports related) using non-sense/decodable words. Students are encouraged to read aloud the small words and then put the words together, while listening for the meaning, to identify the school-related phrase. For example, "Hat Dub Ays Bolf Eeld" when pronounced quickly sounds like "At the Baseball Field."
The back of each card contains a hint with which you may choose to provide your kiddo, as well as the answer to the puzzle.
Print pages front and back, laminate for durability, cut out, and start playing. This set is labeled with either a bat, for easier puzzles, or a basketball, for more difficult puzzles (per my kiddos' opinions). :)
Cards can be used with individual students to see how many they can get in a certain amount of time (i.e., one minute) or split students into teams, with each team having the chance to solve a puzzle in alternating fashion, to add a little healthy competition. If one team cannot solve the puzzle in the given amount of time, the other team gets a chance to steal the puzzle. Whichever team can solve the most puzzles WINS!
