I created Mad Geography many years ago for my 2nd grade class. I wanted my children to learn the Continents and Oceans of the world. Over the years I’ve added more and more tests including the United States, Canada, Africa, Europe, and South and Central America. I hope you find these tests helpful in your own classroom.
These Mad Geography Tests are configured in sets: Central American, Northern South America, Southern South America, and Central & South America. The first three sets introduce the countries and their locations. Test A allows students to learn where each country is located. The names are fully provided and students are only required to match the names to their correct location. Tests B-D then re-arranges the number identifiers on each test so mastery of location is assured, but it also removes 2-3 country names each test so that students must generate them from memory. Test D is considered the blind test. Students are required to identify the location of all the countries in that set as well as generate all the names and spellings themselves. Students move onto the next set and follow the same pattern. Once all regions have been learned, students take a whole Central and South American test eventually leading them to the blind test. Upon completion of Test E, students receive a certificate stating that they have learned all the countries in Central and South America. ©2000 by Paula King
