Forward Facts & Opinions
This is an easy prep literacy center for students to practice the skill of identifying facts and opinions. It is basketball-themed, so it’s great to use during March Madness or during winter when basketball starts heating up!

You can choose to cut out the basketball circles or you can just cut the squares around each basketball – it just depends on how “fancy” you want to make this center for your students!

I like to put up the basketballs around the room when I do this as a whole class activity. You could use it as a SCOOT activity, or you can put the entire set at a literacy center.
I created this activity for my special education students who read at a 2nd-3rd grade level, but you can use it for 2nd-6th graders.

Recording sheets and an answer key are included. I also included black and white cards to save ink. I just print mine on orange paper!

Shot Clock Synonyms (Easy Prep Basketball Literacy Center)
This is an easy-prep literacy center with a basketball theme for your students to practice identifying synonym pairs. Simply cut out the cards on the dotted lines and put them all at a center with the recording sheets and students are ready to go.

Note: the synonym pairs are somewhat color-coded. Light blue words should have a partner word that is light blue, etc. This should make it easier to differentiate for those who need a little extra scaffolding.

This product was created for my special education students who read on a 2nd-3rd grade reading level. It could easily be used with students from 2nd-5th grades.

Alley-oop Antonyms (Literacy Center)
This is an easy-prep literacy center with a basketball theme for your students to practice identifying antonym pairs. Simply cut out the cards on the dotted lines and put them all at a center with the recording sheets and students are ready to go.

Note: the antonym pairs are somewhat color-coded. Light blue words should have a partner word that is light blue, etc. This should make it easier to differentiate for those who need a little extra scaffolding.

This product was created for my special education students who read on a 2nd-3rd grade reading level. It could easily be used with students from 2nd-5th grades.

Fan Favorite 5 Ws Task Cards (Answering 5 W Questions in Non-fiction Text)
Get ready for MARCH MADNESS with this non-fiction 5Ws question task card set about BASKETBALL!

March Madness takes on a whole new meaning in the state of Kentucky, so my students LOVE basketball. I’ve been wanting to create a few products to use with them. This is a set of 10 informational task cards with brief bios and stats on the top 10 basketball players of all time. Students will know most (if not all) of these players.

The skill is a focus on reading passages and answering the 5 W’s questions – who, what, when, where, and why.

The short passages and questions are on each task card, so you could easily have students answer the questions in an interactive notebook or on a blank piece of paper. I also included two versions of recording sheets. One is for more advanced students who can write answers in the small squares. The second recording sheet has two sections with a larger space to answer. Just print the task cards, cut on the dotted line down the middle. Print the recording sheets (optional) and your students are ready to go!

Answer keys are included for your convenience. Some answers may vary.

This product was created for my special education students who are reading on a 2nd/3rd grade level, but it can easily be used with students who are 4th-6th grades as well.
