This project is designed to help middle- and high-school students use magazine ads to practice the steps of experimental design. Students receive a magazine ad from their teacher and then follow the project sheets to follow all the steps of experimental design from identifying the hypothesis to creation of an experiment. The project is scored by peers as well as the teacher so students also get the opportunity to evaluate the work of other students in the class.
The project is designed to be completed in cooperative learning groups during classtime although it could be adapted for individual student work and/or homework. If completed in class it will take approximately 2 class periods.
