This activity provides students with an opportunity to identify letters in the context of a common household item.
Students look through magazines to find the letters of the alphabet. They cut them out and glue them on to the grid with the aim of finding one of each letter. The file is formatted to be printed on 11x17 paper.
In my experience students have demonstrated complex understandings of letter formations in this activity. They often recognize stylized letter formations and different fonts. My favourite is when they rotate letters when they are struggling to find what they are looking for. For example, some students have used "N" rotated as a "Z".
