Using magazines in the classroom is a great way to engage young readers and get informational text into their hands on a regular basis.
I use Time for Kinds magazines in my classroom. I know many teachers also use Highlights and Scholastic News. I often use my magazines for close reads in my guided reading groups. It is a great way to use these magazines, but I wanted to do more!!! I made these 24 task cards to get my kids to read more of the magazine, practice more reading strategies and even practice important language skills!
These cards are perfect for a literacy center, guided reading, fast finishers or for a sub tub! They are easy to differentiate with as you can decide which card a student must complete or give certain cards to particular groups of students.
