This game helps students review "Magic E" (bossy E, silent E, etc.). It is played similar to the traditional UNO game but requires students to read CVCe words. One great feature is that this game is designed to appeal to both younger and older learners. Younger students will enjoy the clear, large-print text and bold colors while older students will appreciate the lack of cute graphics and no-nonsense formatting of the game. Older students can enjoy keeping score, if desired, and younger students or struggling readers can play without the trick cards (which contain challenge words) to simplify the instructions and reading tasks.
Included are a title page, instruction page (for teachers), a "hints, tips and ideas" page (for teachers), 36 word cards, 4 each of SKIP, REVERSE, DRAW TWO and DRAW FOUR cards, 8 WILD cards and 4 blank cards (for teacher use).
This game requires students to read CVCe words, including those with beginning blends. The trick cards include more challenging words, but all are decodable and follow the "rules". Teachers may opt to assist students with sounding out words, as needed, or pair students for additional support.
Suitable for ages 5+.
NOTE: This final version has been updated to include cleaner, clearer fonts and a few small graphics to assist with reading these card titles: skip, reverse, wild, draw two/four, etc. There are no graphics for the actual CVCe words.
