This carefully designed, multi-sensory card game allows you and your students to practice reading words with "silent e" (long vowel sounds) in a way that is fun and authentically engaging. Students will identify the long vowel sounds in different words, and practice reading the words aloud, all in the context of a fun game that incorporates multiple layers of strategy. Because of the added depth over a "roll the dice and read" game, students are more motivated to learn the phonics patterns embedded in the game, and will want to play over and over again.
Appropriate for all students grades 1st grade and up who are practicing the related phonics concepts (prefixes and suffixes). This game was developed by learning specialists who work with a wide range of students, from those with advanced learning strengths to those with diagnosed learning disabilities.
Can be used to follow Orton-Gillingham (OG), Slingerland, or Word Wires scope and sequence.
