This Magic E PowerPoint is set up so the teacher can just sit back while the kids read.
The introduction slide tells students the magic e tells the vowel to say it's name.
First a CVC word appears (like tap). Then, the magic hat appears and when it disappears, there is a "Magic E" so the kids can read the new word (like tape).
There are 29 word slides. Each slide has a CVC word that turns into a CVCe word. I put the words in order by vowel in case you haven't introduced all the vowels when you first use it.
I used this with an intervention group with kids that needed to sound out the words. The slides go slow enough that they have time to read the words but quick enough that you keep your sanity. :)
This skill has so many names. Magic E. Silent E. Vowel Consonant E, CVCe, vCe. With that many names, it must be a powerful concept. I like calling it magic. What child can't use a little magic in their life?!
