Students are required to know their facts fluently, but every student gets bored with flash cards! Magic Squares are games that I created for independent practice. This set includes Magic Squares for addition and subtraction facts. They can be copied on cardstock, laminated, cut apart, put in a baggie and they are ready to go.
Each game has 9 tiles that are divided into 4 sections. The tiles must be aligned so that facing sides are true. Once students have finished their assembly, they can record their answers on the included recording sheet for accountability.
Addition Magic Squares:
Doubles Plus 1
Doubles Minus 1
Subtraction Magic Squares:
Extension idea: Use the blank recording sheet and students can create their own magic squares. They can then cut them apart and see if their friends can put them together!
They are perfect for early finishers, math centers, morning work, or a quick assessment.
