Printable Discussion Questions for Pre-Reading Activities for Magic Tree House #29: Christmas in Camelot
These "swords" (based on the idea of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table) can be printed on card stock and then laminated. I have painted a piece of florists foam gray, to make it look like a stone. Then the laminated swords can be placed into the foam and students can have their turn at being King Arthur for a day and removing the sword from the stone. As the students select a sword of their choice, they then response to the question either in oral discussion in a small group or in their reading journals.
Also, available on TPT is a PowerPoint presentation that is a culmination of the discussion questions and other activities that reinforce comprehension skills. In the Powerpoint, students are provided with a variety of internet resources to help build background knowledge on the topic of Camelot and King Arthur to further understanding of this Magic Tree House adventure.
