Travel to the era of the Civil War with Jack and Annie and learn about the North, South, and the heroic Clara Barton! This reading unit is intended for use with the book Magic Tree House: Civil War on Sunday by Mary Pope Osborne. The unit contains Common Core based questions for every chapter as well as space for students to record answers. The questions require students to give evidence from the text to support their responses, summarize key events, make inferences about character feelings and actions, and describe elements of the story. Additionally, there are vocabulary words and vocabulary worksheets where students can record the definition, identify synonyms and antonyms, and illustrate the word in order to retain meanings. Vocabulary review worksheets and a vocabulary quiz are included. This novel is an excellent choice to read to students as a guided reading unit for the class or as a read-aloud book.
