Magic writing as an effective, fun, low-prep word work station I use for Daily 5. This is the first set of materials I launch. Basically, the students take their set of flashcard with the words they are working on (about 6 cards per student in first grade) and use them to guide the activity. First they write their selected work on the left in pencil, then they rewrite it in white crayon. This does not show up until they take a marker and scribble over the word until it appears (marker seeps through the paper but not the wax from the crayon). Then they select the next word. This document comes with two pages that differ, one with the heading and one with the continued chart, for easy double sided printing.
Materials needed: this document, a pencil, a white crayon, a marker (any color).
