Kids LOVE magnet experiments! This is a booklet that covers the 3rd grade Science standard for Georgia:
S3P2. Students will investigate magnets and how they affect other magnets and common objects.
a. Investigate to find common objects that are attracted to magnets.
b. Investigate how magnets attract and repel each other.

Page 3: Magnetic Observations Experiment-students can hypothesize and test their predictions about what objects magnets will attract to. It also has 4 questions to follow-up after the experiment, including 3 drawing conclusions/inferencing questions.
Page 4: Teacher Key for Magnetic Observations experiment
Page 5: Bar Magnets Experiment-students will hypothesize and experiment to determine what happens when different magnetic poles touch each other. Students learn about attract and repel with room on this page to document their experiment.
Page 6: Teacher Key for Bar Magnets Experiment
This is a great activity for students to do in cooperative groups. It is very self-guided so the teacher can be a facilitator.
