Magnet races are similar to good old-fashioned board races with chalk and are loads of fun!
In this game students work as teams. Each student is given a cutout of a certain digit, the decimal point, or the negative sign with a magnet on the back. It is that student's responsibility to "race" to the board and place that piece in the answer space if it is a part of the answer. Instead of writing the problems on the chalkboard/whiteboard, students solve a problem on paper and then "race" to the board to represent the answer.
