This guided exploration will give your students the opportunity to "play" with a purpose.
Let's face it, magnets are FUN! Students will want to play with them, and what a better way to begin a unit on magnetism then with an EXPLORATION!!
They will explore what magnets can do, while discovering, and figuring out the way they work with out realizing it!
This works wonderfully as a first day intro lesson!
-Begin by listing all the things you know about magnets before hand. Let them discover if they are correct!
*(A KWL Chart will work WONDERFULLY!) *See me store for an editable one!
-Have them do this in partners, or independently, or don't prompt them at all, and see if they work together!
-Only instruction I give prior to this is to tell students not to stick magnets to ANY TECHNOLOGY (Smart/Promethean Board, iPads, laptops, phones, desktop commuters, tv's etc.)
