“Magnetism SCOOT” is a fun and motivating way to review Science concepts about magnetic forces and the interaction of magnets with other materials. The concepts covered in this SCOOT game are now part of the Next Generation Science Standards focusing on Forces and Interactions for Grades 3 and Middle School.
Ask questions to determine cause and effect relationships of electric or magnetic interactions between two objects not in contact with each other.
Define a simple design problem that can be solved by applying scientific ideas about magnets.
Ask questions about data to determine the factors that affect the strength of electric and magnetic forces.
Conduct an investigation and evaluate the experimental design to provide evidence that fields exist between objects exerting forces on each other even though the objects are not in contact.
I am recommending this game for grades 3-6, as many districts are still addressing these standards in grades 4 and 5.
The rules are just like your usual Scoot games, with a longer activity added at the end. There are 28 question cards in all. Break cards are also provided, giving you a way to adjust the number of cards used for fewer or more students. There are blank cards provided as well for you to add some questions unique to your unit of study.
The responses can be used as a formative assessment, or just a review before the test.
A copy of the answer key also can serve as a study guide for the test!
I hope you will enjoy using this version of SCOOT to focus on Science Standards in your learning community!

Colorful background also looks great when printed in grayscale!
