This product includes 5 science stations about magnetism. Students receive a station booklet and rotate to the 5 stations which are meant to take about 15 to 20 minutes.
Station 1: Students read a one page passage called "What is Magnetism?" and respond to prompts in their station booklet.
Station 2: Students place magnets in different positions and record whether the magnets attract or repel.
Station 3: Students create their own compass by rubbing a strong magnet on a needle to create a temporary magnet. They then float the temporary magnet in a bowl of water and watch in amazement as it slowly spins to face north.
Station 4: Students research information about magnetism on the internet to find the answers to the Scavenger Hunt questions in their station booklet.
Station 5: Students test the magnetism of various objects (iron, copper, wood, glass, etc.) and record their findings in their station booklet.
The station booklet also includes a KWL chart and a word search for early finishers.
