When looking for magnetism resources, I found most either too basic or completely too wordy. So, I complied the must know information regarding magnetic force into this take home book for my class.

This booklet covers: What is a magnet, Magnetic fields, how magnets are made, how Earth is like a magnet, compass, electromagnets, how magnets generate electricity, and various uses for magnets.

This magnetism resource includes:

~ Fact books: 2 options (11 half sheet pages)

*One is a standard Magnet take home book.

* One has blank spaces to fill in as the class reads it together.

~ KWL worksheet: Know, Want to Know, Learned

~ Magnets Vocabulary Worksheet & Answer key

Teaching Tips:

* I begin by introducing a few of the key vocabulary terms.

* We complete the KWL: (know and want to know sections) before I read them the fact book.

* Then, I like to read the standard version of the Magnet book to the class using our elmo.

* I pass out the Magnet books with the blank spaces, and we re-read as a class, and fill in the missing words to help with comprehension.

* Finally, I have them complete the vocabulary worksheet and their KWL charts. (The vocab sheet would also work great as homework and / or review if you talk about it as a class the next day.)

**No need to purchase this item individually, if you purchase the bundle above.

Appropriate for grades: 3rd , 4th , 5th , 6th, third, fourth, fifth, sixth,

(depending on ability levels. I used this with low level 5th graders.)
