Students predict and then identify which materials are attracted to a magnet in this simple inquiry activity for primary and lower elementary grades. Materials and supplies needed to run the activity are listed and suggestions to set up for the activity are provided. The data sheet for students to write their predictions (hypothesis) and actual results is included and contains images so that young students may recognize the materials.
This packet also contains three differentiated word searches (which are excellent examples to place in an evidence folder to show differentiation). The first is a simple 7 x 7 box with 5 words (magnet, repel, force, attract, metal) all written forwards. The next contains ten words all written forwards and the third contains the same ten words, but written forwards, backwards and diagonally. The words align to NGSS.
