This activity includes 16 articles and 48 headlines. Each article has three headlines that have something to do with the information presented in the article, but only one headline represents the main idea. Students will read the article, find three headlines that will match the article and choose one headline that represents the main idea. To prove their answer, students will need to find supporting details in the article.
The handout includes the Answer Sheet for students to record their answers and the Answer Key.
This activity is great for individual work, working with partners and small groups, and literacy centers.
If your students need more practice to master the main idea skill, check out this product;
