Here are two "tree"-mendously fun book craftivities to capture your students' interest and enhance their reading comprehension!
Main Idea Christmas Tree Craftivity
I like to use this craftivity after we read a story in our guided reading groups so I can easily differentiate for my students using their leveled readers. You can also use this activity after reading a Christmas or holiday story to the class. Once students read or listen to the story, they determine the main idea (on the star), main topic and five details that support the main idea of the story (on the ornaments).
5 W’s and an H Question Tree Craftivity
I have my students complete this craftivity after we read a Christmas themed story. Students answer who, what, where, when, why, and how questions about the story on the ornaments. You can also use this as an extension activity by having students create their own questions on the ornaments for a partner to answer. My students love doing this after reading a story in their guided reading groups so they each have their own book to create their own questions! If students need more space to write, I have included additional ornaments that they can stack on top of each other.
***This craftivity is included in my Christmas and Winter Themed Reading Comprehension Activities to use with Any Book pack.
