Here's a winter-themed hands-on way to practice identifying main idea and supporting detail sentences! This is an engaging activity where your students match 3 supporting detail sentences (written on snowballs) to the main idea sentence (written on the top hat). This also makes a creative bulletin board or school hallway display... or can also be used as a novel entry in an interactive notebook!
All of the main idea sentences printed on the top hats are related to winter and/or snow. Each main idea sentence has three supporting detail snowballs that the students must find and attach to the appropriate snowman. Five snowmen are included in this resource, but students will only display 4 of the snowmen on their craftivity.

Student-friendly directions are included so that you can place the directions under your document camera, and students can refer to them as they complete the project. (An answer key is also included.)
