This main idea foldable is easy enough for students to figure out independently. After all, the point of the lesson is main idea and details...not learning how to cut/fold paper!
Simply print/copy double-sided. Students fill in the main idea and details on the lines provided, and then create the foldable by following these directions:
*Cut out the large dashed square (largest shape).
*Fold down each corner along the solid lines of the inside square so that a corner triangle covers each supporting detail.
*The main idea will be a square on one side, and the supporting details side will also be a square with the corner flaps covering each detail. The labels (ex: Detail 1) will be seen on the outside, and the page numbers will be seen when the flap is lifted.
