Many students struggle with identifying the main idea of a text and its supporting details. These passages are the perfect practice for students in whole group, guided reading, or independently. Included you will find a guided reading lesson plan for each of the passages. I have also scaffolded the instruction for main idea by providing leveled graphic organizers. Each page is coded with a circle , triangle , or square to easily identify how much support is provided.
Square = no support, triangle = some support, and circle = lots of support. Please note that the TEXT IS NOT DIFFERENTIATED rather the graphic organizer is. I chose not to differentiate the text because our children are required to read and comprehend the same level of text on high stakes testing.
