Give your students the practice they need with identifying main ideas and supporting details with these Main Idea Task Cards. With all the high stakes testing, much of it focusing on nonfiction text, these task cards are exactly what you need.
These task cards will give your students ample practice with identifying the main idea of non-fiction text. Each task card gives an additional task of listing details to support the main idea.
There are many ways you can use these in your class: in a literacy center, early finish box, whole class activity, one a day for morning/bell work… there are so many options!
Included in this packet are 12 task cards, a student recording sheet, and a directions card. There are 4 task cards per sheet. Simply cut the cards and laminate for continued use. Either store them in a large index card file box, or hole punch and assemble on rings.
