Task Cards offer fun ways to practice or review material that has already been taught - in this case, main idea!
Simply cut out and laminate the cards. Place each numbered group of cards in an envelope, or hole punch them, and ring clip them together.
You can use the cards for center work, or students can play “Scoot”.
Students read through five statements and decide which statement is the main idea, then they record the letter for the main idea on the answer sheet. You can “grade” them yourself, or you can display the answer key for students to “grade” themselves.
You can also use the cards to practice summarizing. Students simply number their papers with the card number and copy down the statements on the cards in logical order, and add transition words and phrases, in order to write a summary.
This package includes the following:
*24 nonfiction topics broken down into five cards per topic
