Description

This resource contains the DIGITAL version of my main idea task cards. Two formats are included: Google Forms and Google Slides! This set of 30 multiple choice questions is designed to provide students an opportunity to practice answering main idea test questions.

Each item contains a reading passage followed by a multiple-choice question. After reading each passage, students will answer these questions:

  1. What is the main idea of this passage?
  2. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
  3. Which of the following detail sentences best supports the main idea and could be added to the paragraph?

In total, this set contains ten passages and thirty questions. Some of the topics include monster trucks, text messaging, potato chips, word etymology, and mummies!

How the Google Forms Format Works:

Google Forms are paperless and self-grading. As students complete the activity, grades and data are collected automatically. You will be able to see each student's answers. You will also be able to analyze each question and view how many students answered each question correctly and incorrectly.

How the Google Slides Format Works:

Google Slides are paperless, as well. There is one task card per slide (30 slides in all). When I created this version, I envisioned teachers using these slides in a group setting, where the teacher and students read the cards and identify the best answer together. They can also be assigned for independent work.
