This powerpoint is colorful and includes high-interest videos to assess main idea knowledge.
After teaching an entire lesson on main idea, I still didn't feel like my remedial students could grasp the main idea of a passage, so I decided to create this activity to help them understand how to find main idea while building their confidence in doing so.
My principal just so happened to do a walk-through during this lesson and was not only excited to participate alongside the students, but left with all "Exceeds Expectations" on my PDAS.
-7 video clips
-7 SCAFFOLDED questions, that get progressively more difficult and are aligned with standardized questions that also ask student to give evidence to support their answer
