This fun reading craftivity is sure to motivate your students to identify the main idea and details about the story! Have students read or listen to a story. I like having my students use their basal text, leveled reader, or a Valentine's Day story that I read aloud to the class during the month of February.
Students write the main topic, main idea, and four details from the story on the box of chocolates pattern under each heading. Each student will then color and cut out each chocolate candy. They will then place a dab of glue at the top of each candy on the back so they can lift the chocolates to reveal their answers. Once the chocolates are finished, they will decorate the “lid” to cover their box of chocolates. Staple the lid at the top. Lift the lid to see your cute box of main idea chocolates. These will look so cute to display at your Valentine’s Day party!
