Students can never get enough and we teachers need multiple ways to get them to practice identifying the main idea! Use these pages to introduce, practice, or review identifying the main idea and details. These pages can be used daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or throughout the year. Use the pages to clarify, fine-tune, or remediate. The choice is yours!
Students will read any text/excerpt of your/their choice at any reading level, fiction or non-fiction. They will then identify the main idea and 3 supporting details. These can be noted or quoted or any combination of the two-it's up to you and your students. There is also a place to get evaluated: by self, peer, or teacher/adult. It's a flexible page! There is a page for four entries and one for five entries. Each set includes a page for grading and one without. Designed for multiple-uses, multi-use.
