I created this to be an Exit Ticket for Calkins' Reader's Workshop Unit 2, Session 2, because it is hard to find formative assessments along the way. It could also be used as a graphic organizer.
I included the palm and fingers strategy, as well as the box and bullets. I plan to have my students do both, but you could always cut it in half. For those unfamiliar with these strategies, the main idea goes on the palm and the supporting details on the fingers. Then, you transfer them to the boxes and bullets.
I included 2 templates: one with lines and one without lines. I hope this helps! Let me know what you think.
