This is a great activity to use during centers, with small groups or for early finishers.
This activity contains 12 sets of main idea and supporting details cards. Sets 1-6 are fictional information and sets 7-12 contain nonfictional information.
Students are required to read each card in a given set and decide which one is the main idea, which are the supporting details, and which one does not belong.
A student recording sheet and an answer key is provided.

You are welcome to print the activity in color, but it looks great printed with black ink on color cardstock or paper. I print the title page and laminate it. Then I glue it to the front of a large brown envelope. I copy the cards, laminate, cut out, and place each set in a Ziploc bags. I place the Ziploc bag, recording sheets, and laminated answer key in the envelope for storage.
