Description
Use these task cards for a low prep lesson that help students practice main idea in a new and engaging way. These task cards are designed to get students thinking about how key details support the main idea. Students have to figure out what detail doesn't belong because it doesn't support the main idea.
This resource contains:
- 24 task cards that each have a short paragraph on it, with one detail that doesn't support the main idea of the paragraph. Students must determine what detail doesn't belong.
- 12 task cards that each have a short paragraph on it. Students read the paragraph and then add their their own supporting detail.
- Recording Sheet
- Answer Key and Grading Rubric
The task cards include both nonfiction and fiction text.
This makes a great whole group main idea lesson or small group mini lesson for upper elementary students. Or, use these task cards to play main idea and details SCOOT or another game with your 3rd grade or 4th grade students.
These main idea and supporting details task cards are a part of my best selling Scaffolded Main Idea resource. If you have already purchased that, there is no need to purchase these main idea and details task cards separately!
