Do you need more time to teach social studies, but you don't have it? This product could help solve some of that problem. This activity deals with the Constitution and integrates the skill of main idea while teaching what the Constitution is and what Constitution Day is. It was created for use in a learning center but it can certainly be used in whole group instruction. If you decide to use it as whole group instruction, I would suggest you have your students work in teams when completing the task. In this product's activity, students are asked to cut apart sentences. Then, students place the sentences on a page that is titled "What is the Constitution? or a page that is titled "What is Constitution Day?". So, the activity requires that students figure out the focus of the sentences and on which topic the sentences fit. Answer keys are included. A suggested extension activity is provided as well. This activity is best suited for second or third grade.
