This legal sized paper chart is for students to fill out before, during, and after reading text.
It should be folded into thirds for convenience--and also makes a nice display when folded so work shows. I staple the folded page's middle part to a bulletin board, which makes a lot fit in a smaller space and readers can unfold them as they read student work.
It can be an individual, partner, or group activity, homework, or an assessment--a very flexible and useful tool.
Students fill in title, author, whether expository or narrative, how text is organized, the passage's main idea, topic vocabulary found, and the main idea and important details or three paragraphs chosen by the teacher.
