To show the chronology of major military campaigns of the War of 1812.
This activity includes three reading sections with background information about major battles of the War of 1812. Each section is followed by a brief set of instructions for a fun Map Exercise. Read through the lesson with the class, and have the students do the mapwork at the end of each section.
NOTE: My kids love using colored pencils for this activity. However, if colored pencils are not available for keying the battle symbols, have the students use pen and pencil to represent American victories and British victories.
Teacher Instructions are included, along with a 20-question follow up quiz to measure student progress.
The quiz can also be given as a homework assignment.
