Through use of solfege, your choirs can learn three major chord progressions, plus the names of chords (tonic, dominant, etc.) and the original chant from which solfege came.
I teach the whole choir each row of solfege, starting with the bass (bottom line) and stacking up to the soprano. This can be done with any voicing and parts can switch lines. I use this at middle school level at the beginning of the year to give my choir the basics of harmony.
