In this game students build their understanding of how to combine tenths in a variety of ways in order to "make 1."
Students can play in pairs or in teams. Each pair or team uses one of the 5 different game cards. Students make 1 using different combinations of tenths (Ex: .7 + .3 = 1 or .3 + .3 + .3 + .1 = 1). They can also challenge themselves to use multiple operations to make 1 (Ex: (.7 + .5) - .2 = 1). Students compete to cross out as many boxes as possible on the game board (similar to "blackout" in Bingo). The student/team that crosses out the most boxes is the winner.
