Recommended Grade Range: 1st through 3rd (telling time) 4th (grammar)
This is the time to tell Mom how much she is loved, and your students get to do it by making a clock she can keep up all year. Mom and child can continue practice telling time together at home for the rest of the year and over the summer.
It makes for a meaningful Mother’s Day gift.
It’s also a nice way to introduce the difference between the relative pronouns “whom” (the object of the action) and “who” (the subject or doer of the action).
Time Required: About 15~20 minutes.

Tell and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks.
MA.2.MD.3.7 Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes. (DOK 1)
Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
LA.4.L.1.1 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. Use relative pronouns (who, whose, whom, which, that) and relative adverbs (where, when, why).
