Page 3 Graphic of “Best Friends” – Numbers that join together to make ten Use as a mini-poster or work station prompt.
Page 4 “Graph It” Play this game with partners. Player 1 rolls a die and determines the “best friend” of the number rolled. If the player rolls a 6 they will place a light tally mark in the square above the number 4 because 6 plus 4 equals 10. Player 2 rolls the die and places a tally mark on the corresponding number (“best friend”). As play continues, the columns continue to grow from the bottom up. When one column is completely filled the game is over. Next, players use the correct crayons to color in the boxes with tally marks. This will create a colorful bar graph showing the corresponding addend of the number rolled for a sum of ten. Example: If the two players rolled a 6 three times, the column above the 4 will have three boxes colored in red. If together the players roll a 2 four different times, the four boxes above the 8 will be colored in blue.
