This file contains a Common Core literature lesson for a read-aloud of Robert McCloskey's, Make Way for Duckings. This is a great story to go with your ducks, ponds or life cycle units this spring. This lesson includes pre-reading discussions including activation of prior knowledge about ducks, vocabulary development and story introduction. There are during reading prompts including making predictions.
Post-reading activities include comprehension/discussion questions for literal, inferential and critical responses.
It includes a rhyming game and a writing response.
There are directions for having your learners participate in a cooperative group response activity. This response activity can also be done by individuals.
