You may not be able to take your students to visit a rainforest, but you can bring a mini rainforest to them by including a classroom terrarium filled with rainforest plants, and representative animals, in your science center. Building a terrarium with your students will not only help them learn more about the rainforest, it will provide a home for all those little critters they often bring into the classroom, and it makes a beautiful artifact of your rainforest study for Open House.
A terrarium is a microcosm of any habitat represented. It is a really useful observation tool.
This colorful little booklet, sized 5.5 inches X 4.25 inches, provides the directions for a class, group of students, or an individual to build a rainforest terrarium. Each item added to the terrarium is explained in relation to its corresponding part in the bigger world. Your students will love observing the water cycle, watching the plants grow, and seeing how the animals adapt to their wet and rainy home.
This item is INCLUDED in A Rainforest Rendezvous--Maps, Mural, Mini Museum.
