Looking for a great way to involve your students in the project and question design process? This pack contains six challenge cards with specific materials. Students look at the materials card and then come up with their own engineering challenge to do with those specific materials!
This pack contains:
- What is a Bridge? sheet
- Ten Longest Bridges in the World
- How do I come up with a Challenge question? sheet
- Six Challenge Materials Cards
- Student Lab Sheets
- STEM Recording Sheet for Presentations
The evolution of STEM engineering and design is one that I think includes empowering the students to come up with their own design challenge questions. While it may be difficult at first, I know you will be impressed with the questions that your students come up with to go with each of the material cards! I give each group, pair or individual (based on the challenge) a set of the lab sheets and the recording sheet. I store the material cards in plastic tubs with the necessary materials for each card. You can use all of the cards at once (give a different one to each group) or use one card at a time. We display our recording sheets with our final designs. Student groups also give a quick presentation to the classroom to explain and show their design question, solution, etc.
Get questioning...and engineering!
