A set of animal / place / thing and other nouns, adjectives and verbs, all with the long "i" sound. These words can be combined by students in thousands of different ways, to make repeat sound poems of any line length. Two short examples are included, but the poetic possibilities are limitless!
A creative exercise in poetry writing, literary assonance, and phonics. A great resource for writing nonsense poems too!
This can be an individual 'write-it-yourself' activity for students, or teachers may assist students with sentence construction, including word choice, grammar and punctuation.
Students could also look up unfamiliar words in a dictionary or encyclopedia, including names of animals they do not yet know (thereby adding 5 minutes of biology to the lesson!)
The students' poems may be cut out and showcased on a class pin board, or made into a poetry book, which can be shared with other classes.
This is one of a series of short and long vowel sound poetry kits in my store. More sheets coming soon, also in bundle packs.
