***You must have a Makey Makey kit and computer access for this lesson***
Makey Makey is literally the Invention Kit for Everyone. It uses simple circuits to turn anything that conducts electricity into a keyboard. Imagine controlling your computer with gummy bears!
This easy to use kit fosters creativity while harnessing problem solving and critical thinking through SCRATCH programming.
Using the Design Thinking Process and students will create an interactive board game for their classmates using simple circuits and SCRATCH program of their creation and the Makey Makey as the connecting pieces.
The teacher will guide the students through the process, helping them to:
Define the problem
Develop a prototype
Test the solution and redesign based on feedback
Reflect on the project as a whole
The project is naturally differentiated for students and can be used with any level of student. Students are encouraged to be caring community members, critical thinkers, creators, mindful reflectors and 21st century learners.
This download includes:
*Teachers guide with links to Google Doc/Slide versions of all worksheets
*Slideshow with introduction and instructions to use throughout the project.
*Written project sheet for students
*Guided brainstorming worksheet for students.
*NGSS Engineering Design based grading rubric
From personal experience, teachers can count on a minimum of 10 hours of class time. This resource includes PDF, paper and Google drive compatible (for 1:1 classrooms or Google Classroom) versions.
Hope you and your students enjoy!
