I love 10-frames! The ten-frame uses the concept of benchmark numbers (5 and 10) and helps students develop visual images for each number. Once students are able to visualize the numbers 1- 10, they begin to develop mental strategies for manipulating those numbers, all within the context of the numbers' relationship to ten.
This activity allows student to practice using 10-frames. Students turn over 1 or 2 playing cards and figure out how many more is needed to make 10 or 20.
Also included are 3 bump games: make 10, doubles +1, and add 10. Students spin a number on the game board then cover up its match on with a counter. Don't get bumped!
