Making 10 to Subtract is one of the most important mathematical skills students build in first grade. It gives students a starting place when subtracting and base 10 quickly becomes a ‘safety’ when students aren’t sure where to start.
This resource is intended for first-grade students who already successfully make 10 using manipulatives.
In this resources I have included:
*24 Making 10 to Subtract task cards in this resource
*4 blank task-card templates so students can create their own problem
*4 one-question exit slips for a simple, on-the-go assessment.
These task cards can be used…
*as a solve the room during Math Centers
*a scoot in which one card is placed at each student’s desk
*glued into an interactive reading notebook.
