This smartboard activity is to help with sounding out CVC words and word family. Students can move letters in and out of the each word family and sound them out. There is a sort at the end for students to write CVC words under the correct short vowel sound. A real word and non-sense word sort is also in this activity.
Word Families included are: at, an, ap, am, et, ed, eg, en, it, in, ig, ip, ot, og, op, ut, us, ug
ELA.CC.RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds in three-phoneme (CVC) words.
ELA.CC.RF.K.2e Add or substitute individual sounds in simple, one-syllable words to make new words.
ELA.CC.RF.K.3d Distinguish between similarly spelled words by identifying the sounds of the letters that differ.
